We can surely never have too many photos of our much-photographed lighthouse!

We really have had a very difficult period of weather recently.  Today the wind abated for a while, but it rained very heavily shortly after this photograph was taken, probably melting the snow off the hills, much of which was probably ice from hailstorms anyway.  I cannot personally recall having had so many hailstorms as we have seen in the past couple of weeks.
The relatively benign, if wet, conditions we have right now are about to disappear with winds gusting to 55 mph forecast for Wednesday and 74mph for Thursday.

It has been a while since I posted a gratuitous photo of my favourite view, so, as it was a nice day, I climbed off the bike for long enough to grab this snap - Carl  :-)

I know we post a lot of pictures of the lighthouse in Port Charlotte, but hey, its a very handsome lighthouse...  It was built in 1869 by the Stevenson family.  This was taken last Saturday.

Loch Indaal Lighthouse

Loch Indaal lighthouse was built by the Stevenson family (of Robert Louis Stevenson/Treasure Island) in 1869.  The original Victorian clockwork interior was intact until the building was 'modernised' by the Northern Lighthouse Board around the year 2003.

It is an excellent place to watch for otters as the rocks beneath the tower offer a good view up and down the coast in an area where they are often seen.

The story of the "Lighthouse Stevensons" is to be told by a Caledonia TV programme currently in production for BBC Scotland early next year.
