This Western Red Cedar is beside the track in Ballygrant Woods. The branch doesn't seem to have known whether it was meant to grow up or down, though presumably it all started with some kind of injury when *much* younger.

Unidentified Fly
I have asked the Dipterist Forum for help with the ID of this one... Rather splendid antennae. Found resting on sawn timber in Ballygrant wood. About 20mm long. Any ideas anybody? Carl

Storm damage
Walking through Ballygrant Woods yesterday, we came across this amazing sight of a tree which has fallen between the two upright stems of another tree in the January hurricane. There are a great many other fallen trees there just as there are in Bridgend Woods.
