Road casualty - Male Merlin

Jan found the body of this unfortunate male Merlin next to the road just outside Port Charlotte this afternoon.  We presume it had been hit by a vehicle.

Merlin (Falco columbarius) - Gordon Yates

What a shot this is - a male Merlin by Gordon Yates.  I believe that this bird is going to feature in Gordon's new DVD 'Pennine Birds' to be shown on Thursday evening at the Natural History Centre in Port Charlotte.
