December Moth

This is the name of the moth I caught last night. I know it isn't yet December, but this species flies from late October right through until January. I was hoping to catch a November Moth, but so far haven't managed to do so. It seems a little strange that these insects come out in the winter, and seem to survive OK - there was a sharp frost last night - but they are obviously well adapted.
