Scientific bird names

Carl's post about the Red-breasted Mergansers reminded me of this great book I saw advertised in some learned magazine. The Mergus serrator (I think) is so named because of its 'sawbill' or serrated edged bill. I think that's pretty interesting and for lots more such interesting facts I believe this book could be the source. I for one am adding it to my wish list this Christmas. (Hope it's OK to advertise on this site!)
