River Sorn




Ian reported on his islaybirds blog earlier today that we have had only an inch of rain in May. The river Sorn is very low and slow flowing with very little water going over the weirs. The distilleries are going to really struggle to maintain production unless we see some serious rain soon.




The dry weather will also be difficult for some birds - young Choughs for example will find it difficult to feed when the ground is so hard. Flying insects are very numerous at the moment however, as cyclists using the roads through Bridgend Woods in the evenings can testify...
