I was chatting with a visiting birder the other day who was up from England and couldn't believe the number of Hen Harriers he was seeing on our fair isle. Gamekeepers have persecuted this bird to the brink of extinction in England, which makes the Islay population even more significant, and they can be a daily sighting if you go to the right parts of the island.
