Crofts near Portnahaven

I walked up the hill behind Cladville Farm near Portnahaven today and looked down over the crofting land that dominates this most southern part of the Rhinns of Islay.  Much of this ground is not particularly productive from an agricultural standpoint, but it is extremely valuable for wildlife.  It was a rather grey day to start 2011, and is difficult to pick out the Stevenson-built lighthouse on Orsay Island.
