Purple loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria)

I have always thought that there are two signs that summer is on the turn - that we are on the downward slope of the year and that the geese will soon be here.... The first is when the drake eiders start to gather in groups for the eclipse - the second is the appearance of the Purple loosestrife spikes....
