The first big battalions of Barnacle geese arrived on the island today - having made the trip from Iceland in a light North westerly. There were around 800 at the head of Loch Indaal this evening - and we must hope that there are also at least that number up at Loch Gruinart for the RSPB Goose Spectacular - which until earlier today was going to be rather gooseless. Or at least Barnacle gooseless....
