Unknown funghi

On a completely different subject, does anyone know what this yellow fungus is? Growing near Kinuachdrachd on Jura.

  1. I don't know what it is though there are several possibilities. A good starting point when identifying stalked fungi is whether they have a thin membraneous ring round the stem. So, perhaps you would like to walk back to Kinuachdrach for a a side-on photo, please :-))

  2. Further thought. Given the bright yellow colour and the time of year, they could be Chanterelles. Absolutely delicious to eat!

  3. Thanks, Malcolm. I guess you're right - I'll just have to go all the way back there to confirm the ID!

  4. Remind me never to eat wild mushrooms round at Glencairn!! If they are chanterelles, then I am an angwantibo....
