Notes from the frontline...

There's been a power cut at the Centre this morning, so all has been eerily quiet. A couple of visitors did report having seen an otter from Port Mor campsite this morning, however. I wonder if this is the same one I saw down by Bruichladdich pier on Sunday? There look to be a couple of pairs of Black Guillemot nesting in the pier structure, too, I will have to add it to the "island wildlife hotspots" list...

An INHT member got in touch with us via email at inht@islaynaturalhistory.org to report seeing some hares boxing in her garden at Conisby. Seems a bit late in the year, but I guess Spring has come late due to the hard winter. Has anyone else seen anything similar?

Meanwhile, Ron has sent us a nice photo of some Pale-Bellied Brent Geese at Kilnaughton Bay in May...
